Monrovia, Liberia – Jefferson Tamba Koijee, Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has criticized the Unity Party (UP) government, labeling it as a risky endeavor driven by desperation rather than genuine change. In a bold statement, Koijee expressed concerns over the UP administration’s actions, citing instances of violence and impunity.
“The excessive actions of the UP government in its early stages reveal a desperate agenda, not one aimed at improving the lives of struggling Liberians,” remarked Koijee. He highlighted incidents of violence, including the deaths of individuals from Bea Mountain and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), as evidence of the government’s failure to prioritize accountability.
“How can you ignore cold-blooded murders and fail to hold perpetrators accountable, while focusing solely on political appointments?” questioned Koijee, emphasizing the administration’s misplaced priorities. He further criticized the appointment of over twenty-five consultants to the Civil Service Agency by the Vice President, labeling it as another manifestation of desperation.
Koijee lamented the economic hardships faced by Liberians, attributing them to the UP government’s ineffective policies. “Prices have soared, the economy is in disarray, and the quality of life has deteriorated, while UP loyalists in positions of power prioritize their own interests,” he asserted.
According to Koijee, the Liberian people voted for change but have been let down by the UP administration’s failure to deliver tangible improvements. He called for a renewed commitment to real change, expressing confidence that the people will eventually reclaim control and steer Liberia towards a brighter future.
