Monrovia, Liberia – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the mysterious deaths of Lawrence Moore and Trokon Moore, whose lifeless bodies were discovered near Roberts International Airport on December 22, 2022.
Initial reports from familial sources suggest that Lawrence and Trokon Moore had traveled from Accra, Ghana, for the Christmas holiday before they were murdered. The brothers had been living in Accra since 2015 after allegedly fleeing for their lives due to a land dispute in Dowe, Nimba County. This land has been at the center of a bitter legal battle between the Moore family and Senator Prince Johnson. Allegations suggest that Senator Johnson’s followers were involved in a scuffle with the Moore brothers before their untimely deaths.
According to Benetta Moore, sister of the deceased, her brothers had returned to Liberia to visit friends and family, as well as to inspect ongoing developments on the contested property. However, their visit was tragically cut short when their lifeless bodies were discovered the following day in a bush near the river. “We were all looking forward to a joyful reunion,” Benetta said. “Their deaths have left a void in our hearts and many questions unanswered.”
Community leader David Johnson, who found the bodies, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “It’s a tragedy that has shaken our community to its core,” he stated. “We need justice for Lawrence and Trokon. No family should have to endure such a loss.”
The Moore family has long claimed ownership of the disputed land, a claim strongly contested by Senator Prince Johnson, who has expressed intentions to construct a hospital on the site. This disagreement has inflamed tensions between the two parties, raising questions about the role it may have played in the tragic events.
Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads in their investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding the deaths of Lawrence and Trokon Moore.
