The Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change in Bong County has tendered in his resignation as Chairperson of the Party in the County.
According to a letter shared via his face-book page dated June 25, 2025, Sayblee Weyea stated that his resignation is as the result of his quest to focus on his professional life, and to provide opportunity for new breed of Leadership to lead the Party in the County.
He also announced that he is taking a possible leave from the party to independently conduct a survey on political institutions and individuals who have the potentials to provide significant solutions in addressing the challenges Liberians are enduring ahead of the 2029 general and presidential elections.
“I believed that any future political debate of our Country will not b based on popularity, Money, anger, hate or sympathy, but a political conglomeration that provides a scientific solution to the problems faced by Liberians and statistical data that answers the WHAT, HOW, AND WHEN these problems will be resolved, by this, I am taking my leave as Chairman and subsequently a partisan to focus on my professional life” the communication noted.
Despite acknowledging rejection, marginalization, humiliation, bully, mockery, and limited resources during his service in the Party, Weyea praised partisans of the Congress for Democratic Change including its former Chairperson Mulbah Morlu Jr. and the National Executive Committees for providing him the opportunity to serve the CDC in different capacities in the County.
“Hon. Chair/Acting Chair, I am pleased at this point to extend my thanks and appreciation to Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu Jr. And the entire NEC for all the confidences reposed in me to serve the different capacities in the CDC, I AM HUMBLED” the letter further stated
It is not clear whether Sayblee Weyea will reconsider his decision or which political party he may join ahead of 2029, as he has remained tight-lips on his new journey following his resignation and subsequent leave as a member and Chairperson of the Party in Bong.
Many political pundits in the County have viewed his resignation as a blow to the Party’s structure in the County as he was the only hope of many CDC Partisans in driving the Party at the County level following the resignation of Representative Marvin Cole who greatly help the Coalition in Bong THE National Patriotic Party he resigned from in January of this year.
