Former Vice Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and former Campaign Spokesperson for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Cllr. Kanio Gbai Gbala, has taken up a new role as the Chief of Office Staff in the office of the newly elected Grand Gedeh District 1 Representative, Jeremiah Sokan.
In a strategic move aimed at bolstering the efficiency and effectiveness of his office, Representative Sokan has appointed Cllr. Gbala, recognizing his extensive experience and expertise in both the anti-corruption sector and political campaigns.
Cllr. Gbala’s appointment is viewed as a significant development, given his notable background in key leadership positions. As Chief of Office Staff, he will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of Representative Sokan’s office, coordinating activities, and facilitating the implementation of legislative initiatives.
Representative Sokan expressed confidence in Cllr. Gbala’s ability to deliver results, emphasizing his proven track record of leadership and commitment to public service. He stated, “Cllr. Gbala brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his new role, and I am confident that his expertise will greatly contribute to the effectiveness of our office in serving the people of Grand Gedeh District 1.”
However, there has been mixed reaction concerning Cllr. Gbala’s acceptance of the role. Some experts suggest that he should allow space for growth from members of the new generation. It is rumored that Cllr. Gbala’s motivation for seeking the position is to get closer to the county of his ancestry, as he harbors an intention to run in the county in 2029.
In response to his appointment, Cllr. Gbala stated, “I am honored to join Representative Sokan’s team and contribute to the advancement of our district. I look forward to working tirelessly to ensure that the needs of our constituents are met and that we deliver meaningful change.”
With Cllr. Gbala’s expertise now onboard, Representative Sokan’s office is poised to navigate its responsibilities with greater efficiency and impact, driving positive change in the district.
