Monrovia, Liberia — Former Montserrado County District 8 Representative Acarous Gray has made serious allegations against President Joseph Boakai, accusing him of engaging with money launderers and terrorist financiers. These accusations come in response to the government’s recent acquisition of earth-moving equipment.
Gray, speaking to the press, alleged that President Boakai’s dealings regarding the procurement of the machinery involved individuals with criminal backgrounds, including money laundering and financing terrorism. “The President is in conversations with criminals and those involved in terroristic financing,” Gray stated emphatically.
These claims were quickly rebutted by Deputy Information Minister Daniel Sando, who described Gray’s accusations as baseless and unfounded. “This is nothing more than loose talk,” Sando asserted. “The entire CDC is in disarray over the arrival of these machines, and they are resorting to making unfounded claims.”
Sando further emphasized that the government’s acquisition of the earth-moving equipment was conducted transparently and in the best interest of the Liberian people. He suggested that Gray’s allegations were politically motivated and aimed at distracting from the positive developments initiated by President Boakai’s administration.
“The acquisition of these machines is a significant step towards improving infrastructure and development in Liberia,” Sando continued. “We urge the public to disregard these unfounded accusations and focus on the tangible progress being made.”
The government spokesman reiterated the administration’s commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in all its dealings. “President Boakai’s administration remains dedicated to the principles of good governance and the rule of law. These baseless accusations will not deter us from our mission to develop Liberia.”
As the political climate heats up, the public remains watchful of both the administration’s actions and the opposition’s criticisms. The allegations by Gray add to the ongoing political discourse, highlighting the deep divisions and challenges in Liberia’s political landscape.
Despite the controversy, the government continues to push forward with its development agenda, aiming to bring about positive change and improvements in the country’s infrastructure and economy.
